Background midi: Here Is Greenwood theme

Here Is Greenwood is brought to us by Software Sculptors, both subtitled and dubbed, on tape or laserdisc. Greenwood is an amusing comedy/drama that centers on a teenage student named Kazuya Hasukawa and his peers in a dormitory. Not an ordinary dorm however. It seems "Greenwood", as the students call it, is home to the oddest and quirkiest students on campus. In a way, this series reminds me of Maison Ikkoku, both having a nice-guy main character with phenomenal bad luck, surrounded by people who take no end of pleasure playing tricks on him (although Kazuya is a lot better at standing up for himself them Yusaku was).
This series has some really hilarious moments (almost fell off my chair a couple of times), some good drama, a decent musical score, and a lot of very interesting characters. One caveat, the dub version leaves something to be desired. The voices themselves are OK, but the voice acting is flat, stiff and unnatural sounding. Since I have it on laserdisc, I was able to compare the sub to the dub, and there was no comparison. Not very long into watching it, I switched to the analog (Japanese) sound track and turned on my TV's closed captioning. If you get it on disc you can compare for yourself; if you are getting it on tape, I strongly recommend you get the subtitled version. Software Sculptors is the same company the brought us The Slayers, on which the dub was great. I have no idea what happened with Greenwood.
This show should appeal to anyone who likes a good comedy/drama. It won't appeal to dedicated hack-n-slashers, as it is heavy on plot and story and there is no real violence to speak of.
