Vampire Hunter D

Vampire Hunter D dubbed by Streamline Pictures, 80 mins., $29.95

In the distant future, in a world where magic exists and supernatural and undead creatures walk the earth in the night, ancient vampires rule as feudal lords over small human farming communities. It is known that the local vampire lord, Count Magnus Lee, rumored to be over one million years old, takes an "interest" in a mortal woman once every century or so to relieve his boredom. He takes an "interest" in Doris, a young woman who runs a small ranch with her little brother. One night, while she is hunting a creature that has been preying on her farm animals, Count Lee bites her, marking her as his own, then leaves to let her consider her situation. She sends out a call for a vampire hunter which is answered by the Vampire Hunter known as "D". She meets D on the road and tests his abilities by attacking him, for if she can defeat him then D will have no chance against Lee. Without making any apparent physical moves, D easily defeats Doris' attack. Impressed, Doris apologizes for the attack, explaining that she had to test him. She shows him the bite on her neck and asks him to help her, he agrees. After going to Doris' house, two of Lee's emissaries, his daughter and the space warping mutant called Ley come for Doris. Before they can trash the house's defenses, D gently renders Doris unconscious, turns off the defenses and goes to meet them. D repulses Ley's attack and D attempts to run him through with his sword, but Ley uses his spacial warping power to cause the sword to go through D instead! Ley presses his attack but D easily fends him off. Ley watches in amazement as D's wound heals in seconds. Just who and what is this Vampire Hunter D?

All that happens in the first twenty minutes or so, and it gets even better, so be sure and pick up Vampire Hunter D!
